Create a suggestion submission panel

Publish a persistent message with a button that opens the suggestion form

Publish a persistent Discord message with a button that opens the suggestion form for one suggestion setup. You can place it in a different channel from the suggestions board and choose either a rich embed or plain text.

Before you start

  • Create a suggestion setup.
  • You need the Publish the suggestion button capability. It is available to server managers by default and can be delegated through Permissions and capabilities.
  • Give Aethor View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links and Manage Messages in the destination channel. Manage Messages lets Aethor remove the previous tracked panel when you publish an update.

Open the panel editor

  1. Open the dashboard and choose your server.
  2. Open Settings → Suggestion settings.
  3. Select the suggestion setup that should receive the submissions.
  4. Choose Create submission panel. If the setup already has a panel, choose Edit submission panel instead.

The editor shows a Discord preview beside the form. The button always submits to the selected suggestion setup, even when the panel is posted in another channel.

Choose the message

  1. Under Choose the destination, select the channel where members will see the panel. Text, announcement, voice-chat and stage-chat channels are available when Aethor can post there.
  2. Under Presentation mode, choose one of these options:
    • Rich embed adds an optional message above an embed, author and title text, links, images, fields, a footer and a timestamp.
    • Text and button posts plain message text followed by the button. The message text is required in this mode.
  3. Fill in the message content. The preview updates as you edit the form.

The default rich embed looks like this:

Rich embed options

When Rich embed is selected, use the sections in Build the embed as needed:

  • Core content controls the author name, title and description.
  • Clickable links and icons adds HTTPS links and icon URLs to the author or title.
  • Images adds a thumbnail or a full-width image.
  • Fields adds named values. Enable Display inline when Discord should place a field beside other inline fields.
  • Footer and time adds footer text, a footer icon and the publication timestamp.

Style the action

Under Style the action, set the button label, choose Primary, Secondary, Success or Danger, and select an emoji. You can use an Aethor emoji, a server emoji or a Unicode emoji.

The button action is fixed to the selected suggestion setup. These controls change how the button looks, not which setup receives the submission.

Review and publish

  1. Choose Review and publish after the form passes validation.
  2. Check the destination badge and the complete Discord preview in Review and publish.
  3. Choose Publish submission panel.

For a new panel, Aethor posts the message and stores its channel and message reference with the suggestion setup. If you are editing an existing panel, Aethor posts the replacement first and then removes the previous tracked message.

Publishing an edit removes the previous tracked panel. Save any text or image URLs you want to keep before publishing.

Change or republish a panel

Open the same setup and choose Edit submission panel. The dashboard loads the stored destination and design. Change the content, destination or button appearance, review the result, and publish the update. A setup has one tracked submission panel; each update replaces the previous message.

You can also publish the stored panel from Discord:

This command reuses the stored dashboard design. If the setup has no stored design, it publishes the locale-aware default panel. Omit destination to post in the setup’s suggestions channel.

Verify the panel

Open the destination channel and check that:

  • the message has the content, embed and button shown in the final review
  • the button opens the suggestion form for the selected setup
  • a test submission follows the setup’s review queue, limits and normal suggestion workflow

If publishing fails, check the destination channel permissions and the Publish the suggestion button capability. If an older message remains after a manual deletion or Discord error, publish the panel again so Aethor can track the replacement.

Limits

  • Message text is limited to 2,000 characters.
  • A button label is limited to 80 characters.
  • An embed can have up to 25 fields, and its combined text is limited to 6,000 characters.
  • Embed links and image URLs must use HTTPS.

For the member submission flow, read Submit and follow suggestions. For moderation and dashboard work, read Suggestions and Suggestions on the dashboard.
