Enable suggestion threads

Add automatic or on-demand discussion threads to Aethor suggestions

Aethor can create a Discord thread for every suggestion automatically, or show a thread button so members start discussions only when needed.

#Open the suggestion dashboard

Run /setup modify and choose the suggestion setup you want to change:

/setup modify setup:#suggestions copy

#Automatic threads

Enable Auto thread in the dashboard. Every newly published suggestion starts a thread named Discussion: suggestion <number>.

Keep automatic threads off and configure the optional thread button in the vote controls. A member can then create a thread from a suggestion when discussion is needed.

Automatic threads are immediate; the button avoids creating empty threads. Both keep the conversation attached to the suggestion message.

#Required permissions

In the suggestion channel, Aethor needs:

• Manage Threads
• Send Messages in Threads
• View Channel
• Send Messages
• Read Message History

These are in addition to the normal suggestion permissions. If Aethor can post suggestions but cannot create a thread, check channel-specific permission overrides and the position of any category overrides.

#What happens when staff resolve the suggestion

When a suggestion is accepted, denied, planned, implemented or marked duplicate, Aethor attempts to archive its discussion thread. The decision and configured state history remain on the current suggestion card.

#This is not Thread Support

Thread Support is a separate Aethor feature that creates a support thread for every message in one configured support channel. The settings on this page apply only to suggestions.
